Ecole 4-6 ans

Every single thing we teach a child, is a thing we are stopping them from inventing or discovering.

L’écoline welcomes children aged 4 to 6 years old in the School section, same as 1P and 2P in public school system. L’écoline is officially authorised and recognised by DGEO.

Our School section offers 27 places with 2 professionals (2 teachers in the morning, teacher/educator the afternoons) + 2 trainees/apprentices.

We provide an educational approach inspired mainly by Reggio Emilia, but also the forest schools from Danemark and all over the world now, and the Project Zereo programs from Harvard “Cultures of thinking” and “Making Leaning visible“.

Please find below a few videos to illustrate our approach. You’ll find more details below.

L’écoline is opened everyday from 7:30am to 6:30pm. We offer “à la carte” schedule with a minimum of 4 mornings (untl 2pm) + 1 afternoon (until 4pm). The rest is optional up to the full week. Check our General terms.

Our meals are prepared and delivered by a ‘Local Caterer’, who proposes mainly organic, local and seasonal meals. Our snacks are prepared either by a ‘Local Caterer’ or in-house (homemade cakes and bread, fruit, which is always organic) and sometimes supplemented by birthday cakes which the families bring. Mealtimes take place in a family-like atmosphere, with one adult at each table to encourage the children to try, discover and appreciate new and different foods.

For children staying after 4pm, ‘ateliers’ are also available for free (Musik, Dance, Capoeira, Feelgood, English Club).

Our environment is bilingual, in that the staff and children speak mainly French or English. Our main teacher, Elizabeth is american, It is not strictly speaking an immersion programme, as learning a second language is not an educational objective in itself here. We notice that children do become fluent in French and understanding English develops to varying degrees.

Our indoor spaces are light and spacious and inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. They evolve during the year with the children’s projects and work. Children also spend a substantial part of their day in the nature, whether it’s the local forest or the lake, both of which are at five minutes walk from the school. See photos

We follow the school calendar of Vaud. During the public school holidays, l’écoline provides holiday clubs which are subject to a specific enrolment process and fee (except for 3 weeks in August and for 2 weeks over Christmas and the New Year).

In 2019, l’écoline opened the first coworking space inside a school for the parents (with an independent access), in partnership with The Village Coworking.
Parents can join in anytime to work or relax, with an annual subscription or ponctually, for example on Wednesdays or during holidays camps.

L’écoline is the first school and nursery in Switzerland to receive B Corp certification, for our social and environmental positive impact !
We were also among the first to get the label Eco-Schools in Switzerland. Every year staff, children and parent-volunteers explore a theme related to nature and sustainability (food, waste, biodiversity…).
