Preschool 2-4 years old

Every single thing we teach a child, is a thing we are stopping them from inventing or discovering.

Jean Piaget

L’écoline welcomes children from 2 to 4 years old in its Preschool section (2 years old by July 31st). L’écoline is officialy recognized and authorized by OAJE.

Children are accompanied by professional educators, 1/7 for children up to 30 months old, then 1/10 for other children from 2.5 – 4 years old.
These professionals are accompanied by Atelieristas, specialists in Storytelling, Visual Arts, Dance, Nature, etc. as well as Assistants, Apprentices and Trainees. (> Team)

We offer a pedagogy inspired mainly by the Reggio Emilia approach, but also by the forest school movement in general.

Here are some videos to better understand our approach. You will find more practical information at the bottom of the page and we invite you to visit our blog to better understand our educational project and vision.

SCHEDULE
L’écoline is open every weekday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The timetable is flexible, starting as of a half day with/without meal on Wednesdays and during holidays.
For our Preschool group, we request a minimum rate of 3 mornings (until 2:00 p.m.). Check out our terms and conditions.

MEALS
Our meals are prepared and delivered by a ‘Traiteur Local’, who proposes mainly organic, local and seasonal meals. Our snacks are prepared either by a ‘Traiteur Local’ or in-house (homemade cakes and bread, fruit, which is always organic). Mealtimes take place in a family-like atmosphere, with one adult at each table to encourage the children to try, discover and appreciate new and different foods.

AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
For children staying after 4pm and from 3 years old, ‘ateliers’ are also available for free (Music, Dance, Capoeira, Feelgood, English Club).

BILINGUISM
Our environment is bilingual French/English but it is not a strict immersion bilingualism. All children can speak French or English without learning a foreign language as a pedagogical objective. We also welcome children who speak neither French nor English.

ENVIRONMENT
Our indoor spaces are light and spacious and inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. They evolve during the year with the children’s projects and work. Children also spend a substantial part of their day in the nature, whether it’s the local forest or the lake, both of which are at five minutes walk from the school. See photos

HOLIDAYS
We follow the school calendar of Vaud. During the public school holidays, l’écoline provides holiday clubs which are subject to a specific enrolment process and fee (except for 3 weeks in August and for 2 weeks over Christmas and the New Year).

COWORKING
In 2019, l’écoline opened the first coworking space inside a school for the parents (with an independent access), in partnership with The Village Coworking.
Parents can join in anytime to work or relax, with an annual subscription or ponctually, for example on Wednesdays or during holidays camps.

SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
L’écoline is the first school and nursery in Switzerland to receive B Corp certification, for our social and environmental positive impact !
We were also among the first to get the label Eco-Schools in Switzerland. Every year staff, children and parent-volunteers explore a theme related to nature and sustainability (food, waste, biodiversity…).
