Organisation

Every single thing we teach a child, is a thing we are stopping them from inventing or discovering.

AGES

We have 27 spots for children from 18 months to 4 years old in our Preschool group and 27 spots for children from 4 to 6 years old in our School group (equivalent to 1 st and 2 nd
Primary). In our Parascolaire section, we have 24 spots for children from 1P to 6P. We also welcome children of different ages in our different Ateliers.

OPENING TIMES

L’écoline is open every weekday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The timetable is flexible, starting as of a half-day (with meal) on Wednesdays and during holidays.

For our Preschool group, we request a minimum rate of 3 mornings (until 2:00 p.m.)  and of 4 mornings (until 2:30 p.m.) + 1 afternoon (until 4:00 p.m.) for the School 1; and  4 full days until 4:00 p.m. for the School 2 .

CLASSES

The educator/child ratio is: 1/7 for children up to 30 months of age, then 1/10 for the other children in the Preschool group, then 1/14 maximum for children in the School group. These professionals are assisted by « Atelierista » who are specialists in the Visual Arts, Dance, Nature, etc. as well as Classroom Assistants, Apprentices and Trainees.

BILINGUALISM

Our environment is bilingual, in that the staff and children speak mainly French or English. It is not strictly speaking an immersion programme, as learning a second language is not an educational objective in itself here. We notice that children do become fluent in French and understanding English develops to varying degrees.

MEALS

Our meals are prepared and delivered by Kidelis, who proposes mainly organic, local and seasonal meals. Our snacks are prepared either by Kidelis or in-house (homemade cakes and bread, fruit, which is always organic). Mealtimes take place in a family-like atmosphere, with one adult at each table to encourage the children to try, discover and appreciate new and different foods.

ATELIERS

Children have access to regular ‘ateliers’ in science, visual arts, nature and dance, as well as ‘ateliers’ by parents and other specialists on particular topics during school time. For the children who stay after 4:00 p.m. other ‘ateliers’ are also available (Chinese, Dance, Capoeira, Yoga, English Club).

ENVIRONMENT

Our indoor spaces are light and spacious and inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. They evolve during the year with the children’s projects and work. Children also spend a substantial part of their day in the local forest and at the lake, both of which are at five minutes walk from
the school.

COWORKING

In 2019, l’écoline opened the first coworking space inside a school for the parents (with an independent access), in partnership with The Village Coworking.
Parents can join in anytime to work or relax, with an annual subscription or just drop-in, for example on Wednesdays or during holidays camps.

HOLIDAYS

We follow the school calendar of Vaud. During the public school holidays, l’écoline provides holiday clubs which are subject to a specific enrolment process and fee (except for 3 weeks in August and for 2 weeks over Christmas and the New Year).

POSITIVE IMPACT

L’écoline is the first school and nursery in Switzerland to receive B Corp certification, for our social and environmental positive impact !
We were also among the first to get the label Eco-Schools in Switzerland. Every year staff, children and
parent-volunteers explore a theme related to nature and sustainability (food, waste, biodiversity).
