School | 4 to 6 years old

Every single thing we teach a child, is a thing we are stopping them from inventing or discovering.

L’écoline welcomes children aged 4 to 6 years old in the School section, same as 1P and 2P in public school system. L’écoline is officially authorised and recognised by DGEO.

Our School section offers 27 places with 2 professionals (2 teachers in the morning, teacher/educator the afternoons) + 2 trainees/apprentices.

We provide an educational approach inspired mainly by Reggio Emilia, but also the forest schools from Danemark and all over the world now, as well as the Project Zero programs from Harvard “Cultures of thinking” and “Making Learning visible“.

Our indoor spaces are light and spacious and inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach but also by the forest school movement in general. They evolve during the year with the children’s projects and work.

Children also spend a substantial part of their day in nature, whether it’s the local forest or the lake, both of which are at five minutes walk from the school.

Here are some videos to better understand our approach. You will find more practical information at the bottom of the page and we invite you to visit our blog to better understand our educational project and vision.

SCHEDULE

L’écoline is open every weekday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The timetable is flexible, starting as of a half day with meal on Wednesdays and during holidays.
We offer “à la carte” hours, with a minimum rate of 4 mornings (until 2:00 p.m.) plus 1 afternoon until 4pm. Check out our terms and conditions.

MEALS

Our meals are prepared and delivered by Kidelis, a local caterer which does its best to deliver organic, seasonal and local meals. Our snacks are prepared either by Kidelis or in-house (homemade bread, fruits and vegetables. Mealtimes take place in a family-like atmosphere, with one adult at each table to encourage the children to try, discover and appreciate new and different foods.

AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

For children staying after 4pm and from 3 years old, ‘ateliers’ are also available for free (Music, Dance, Capoeira, Feelgood, English Club).

BILINGUALISM

Our environment is bilingual French/English but it is not strict immersion bilingualism. All children can speak French or English without learning a foreign language as a pedagogical objective. We also welcome children who speak neither French nor English. Our 2 teachers, Elizabeth and Laurence, are native English and native French, respectively. They both speak fluent French and English as a second language.
